SPs are dimensionally specific and accurate spatial plans which are used to guide the development or redevelopment of an urban area,
town or city and its peripheries or other significant development areas.
They are usually derived from recommendations made in SDFs and are used to define future development and land use patterns, layout of trunk roads, conservation and protected areas and other key features for managing the direction of development.
SPs have a time horizon of 15 years and will include a programme for mobilising resources and implementing the proposals indicated in the plan.
